DID Kudat

The Administrative District of DID Kudat is situated on North of the State of Sabah approximately 200 km to the North of Kota Kinabalu. Its office, completed in 1971 is located about 1 km from Kudat town. The Administrative District of DID Kudat includes Kudat District, Matunggong and Banggi Sub Districts which covers a total area of approximately 1,287 km².

The Administrative District of DID Kudat has 21 personnels headed by an Irrigation and Drainage Officer,Grade J4. The main duties carried out in the district are:-

• To plan and implement the Department's works in line with its policies and functions.

• To operate and maintain Irrigation and Drainage Schemes. This include minor irrigation and drainage schemes planted by farmers with small areas in order to assist their product output. The Irrigation and Drainage Schemes in the district are as follows:-

• To operate and maintain major urban drainage system that includes major trunk drains. Secondary drains and drains that are in housing development are maintained by the local authority. Whereas road-side drains are maintained by the Public Works Department.

• To plan and implement river conservancy works. River conservancy is a very important traditional function of DID. Works carried out include removing debris from rivers that restrict the smooth flow, river dredging and straightening. On average the Administrative District of Kudat conserve 100 numbers of rivers with a total length of 200 km every year.
