DID Administrative District of Kota Marudu

The Administrative District of DID Kota Marudu is situated in the West Coast-North of Sabah about 120 km from Kota Kinabalu. Its office is located in the town of Kota Marudu. The Administrative District of DID Kota Marudu covers two district; they are the Kota Marudu District and Pitas District with a total area of approximately 2,804 km2. Irrigation infrastructures are provided in 5 irrigation schemes with a total area of approximately 2,910 ha.


DID Office Kota Marudu

The Administrative District of DID Kota Marudu is headed by an Irrigation and Drainage Engineer, Grade J3 with a supporting staff of 68 personnels. The main duties carried out in the district are:-

  • To plan and implement the Department's works in line with its policies and functions.

  • To operate and maintain Irrigation Schemes. This include minor irrigation schemes planted by farmers with small areas in order to assist their product output. The Irrigation Schemes in the district are as follows:-

  • To operate and maintain major urban drainage system that includes major trunk drains. Secondary drains and drains that are in housing development are maintained by the local authority. Whereas road-side drains are maintained by the Public Works Department.

  • To plan and implement river conservancy works. River conservancy is a very important traditional function of DID. Works carried out include removing debris from rivers that restrict the smooth flow, river dredging and straightening. On average the Administrative District of Kota Marudu conserve 123 numbers of rivers with a total length of 231 km every year.
