DID Beaufort Administrative District Office

The Administrative District of DID Beaufort is situated in the West Coast South of the State of Sabah. It is approximately 80 km from Kota Kinabalu. Its main office is located in Beaufort Town with two small offices located in Sipitang and Kuala Penyu. The Administrative District of DID Beaufort covers an area of about 4665.53 km2 covering three districts and one sub-district.

The Administrative District of DID Beaufort is headed by a Irrigation and Drainage Engineer, Grade J3 and has a staff strength of 69 personnels The main duties carried out in the district are:-

  • To plan and implement the Department's works in line with its policies and functions.

  • To operate and maintain Irrigation and Drainage Schemes. This include minor irrigation schemes planted by farmers with small areas in order to assist their product output. The Irrigation and Drainage Schemes in the district are as follows:-

  • To operate and maintain major urban drainage system that includes major trunk drains. Secondary drains and drains that are in housing development are maintained by the local authority. Whereas road-side drains are maintained by the Public Works Department.

  • To plan and implement river conservancy works. River conservancy is a very important traditional function of DID. Works carried out include removing debris from rivers that restrict the smooth flow, river dredging and straightening. On average the Administrative District of Beaufort conserve 184 numbers of rivers with a total length of 442 km every year.
